This Sunday, Justin Becret for men and Aelan Vaast for women won the French Shortboard Championships in Hossegor.
Justin Becret and Aelan Vaast were respectively crowned French champions this Sunday in the Landes during the 60th edition of the French Championships. Becret finally won this national title on a Gardians spot in Hossegor which offered solid conditions (waves of around 1.50 m), Becret.
His direct competitors Gaspard Larsonneur, Tristan Guilbaud, Thomas Debiere and Joan Duru forfeited, the 22-year-old surfer, local to the stage, took the opportunity to sign a high-level heat by scoring magnificent lefts (8.83 and 8. 17). With a total of 17 (out of 20), Becret beat his rivals in the final, Sam Piter (2nd), Maël Laborde (3rd) and Enzo Cavallini (4th).

The conditions this morning were far from easy but the organizers decided to continue the competition and the waves really improved. Going south during the final? Among the women, it was Aelan Vaast, Kauli’s sister, who emerged as boss. In the final, the surfer achieved a 9.17 and a 7.83, which allowed her to dominate Nahia Milhau (2nd), Lee-Ann Boudine (3rd) and Lilou Rumiel (4th).
« It was a very good day, with nice hollow lefts, that’s what I like to surfsaid Aelan Vaast. I was really happy to go in the water in each series, it was really a great competition. I knew how to hit my waves at the right time and in the right place. I went at the start to do left maneuvers because I know that is my strong point. This is what I put forward and it paid off even if I also had some nice rights. I kept the same tactic all day. »
