Sinner and Alcaraz already qualified, Tsitsipas with his back to the wall, Djokovic no longer in control of his destiny… At the launch of the last major tennis event of the season before the Turin Masters at the end of the year, where are the players at the Breed.
At the start of the Masters 1000 in Paris, the last at Bercy, four tickets out of eight remain to be allocated for the Masters in Turin (November 10-17). Update on the players already qualified and the contenders for the last four places.
Already qualified
A year after losing the Masters final to Novak Djokovic, world No.1 Jannik Sinner leads the “Race to Turin”, the ranking taking into account only the results of 2024, the first eight of which participate in the Masters , with more than 10,000 points. With respectively 6,710 and 6,315 points, Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev (winner of the Masters in 2018 and 2021) follow him in the Race ranking and are assured of their place in Turin, whatever their result at Bercy (the winner of which will pocket 1,000 points). To bring up the rear, Daniil Medvedev, ranked 4th with 4,820 points, validated his ticket this week for the masters tournament, which he won in 2020.
On track
Fifth in the Race with 4,290 points and exempt from the first round at Bercy, the American Taylor Fritz is the best placed of the players not yet qualified. His first pursuer Novak Djokovic (6th with 3,910 points) took a risk by choosing not to compete in the Masters 1000 in Paris, which he has already won seven times, like the masters tournament.
No less than five players, with more than 3,000 points in the Race and all present at Bercy, are in fact in ambush: Casper Ruud (7th, 3,845 points), Andrey Rublev (8th, 3,720 points), Alex de Minaur (9th , 3,555 points), the winner of the 2017 Masters Grigor Dimitrov (10th, 3,150 points) and Tommy Paul (11th, 3,135 points). De Minaur and Paul are also announced at the ATP 250 in Belgrade (November 3-9) and Ruud at the ATP 250 in Metz (also November 3-9), two tournaments which can bring up to 250 points to their winner.
On unfavorable waiver
Stefanos Tsitsipas, 12th in the race to Turin with 2,975 points, will be present at Bercy but could face a complicated journey by facing Andrey Rublev in the round of 16, before a potential quarter against Alexander Zverev. Despite his recent semi-final at the ATP 500 in Basel and even if he plans to line up in Paris then in Metz, Holger Rune (13th, 2,675 points) seems condemned to the feat to see Turin, while a possible round of 16 against Jannik Sinner looms at Bercy. The march will also be very high for Frances Tiafoe (15th, 2,600 points), announced in Bercy as in Belgrade.
