KVC Westerlo lost on Saturday afternoon 1-2 against Club Brugge. Defensive errors led to the opposing goals, notably a ball from Sinan Bolat.
After four minutes of play, Sinan Bolat received a shot from Jorne Spileers directly at him. However, he failed to catch the ball and let it pass under him.
After the match, Bolat took the time to explain this big mistake more. “I’m not shirking my responsibilities. Of course I’m angry with myself, it wouldn’t be normal if that wasn’t the case,” he began.
Club fans began to provoke and mock him, but many Westerlo fans also showed their displeasure. “I’m 36 years old. I don’t care what anyone shouts at me,” assured Sinan Bolat.
“They have the right. If they see me making a mistake, they have the right to say it, but if I play well, they also react in a positive way. It goes both ways,” puts the Turkish goalkeeper into perspective.
After the match, he didn’t go to greet the fans either, but: “It has nothing to do with the fans, it was just because of the disappointment.” Bolat will have trouble sleeping tonight, but he can quickly turn the page. “I don’t care what people say. It’s important that I take my responsibilities on the ground.”
