Cycling. Tour of Guangxi – Alex Baudin: “We lacked a little freshness”

Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale made a group shot this Saturday. L’time was finally for the explanation between favorites for the general classification on the Gree-Tour de Guangxi on the occasion of a 5th stage rightly considered to be the main stage of this week in China. At the top of the Nongla Scenic Area (3.3 km at 6.6%), it’s the Belgian Lennert Van Eetvelt who raised his arms, behind, the two Frenchmen of Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale, Alex Baudin et Victor Lafay finished in 3rd and 4th place.

“We’re going to try again.”

Alex Baudin looked back on his day: “It was a very fast day and the whole team did a great job to position themselves well at the foot of the final climb. We managed our effort with Victor (Lafay) at first. Then, Victor managed to follow Tim Wellens’ attack 2km from the finish. For my part, I was able to let the other teams who wanted to catch up with this leading duo work. Unfortunately we lacked a little freshness to follow Lennert Van Eetvelt. and Oscar Onley who flew to victory I am happy with my performance and this good third place Victor finishes fourth. We are both in wait for the general classification.
