Second match and second success for OL in the Women’s Champions League. The Rhodaniennes won in Wolfsburg (2-0), Thursday October 17.
Victorious over Galatasaray (3-0) at home in the opening of the Women’s Champions League last week, Olympique Lyonnais confirmed this result by winning away to VfL Wolfsburg (2-0), in Germany, during the 2nd day of the group stage of the European competition.
The French champions quickly opened the score at Wolfsburg Stadium, with a header from their captain Wendie Renard, receiving a cross from Melchie Dumornay (0-1, 8th, photo above). The Haitian striker was also at the origin of the second Rhone goal by obtaining a penalty on a foul by Minge, transformed by the American Lindsey Horan in the 54th minute (0-2, photo below).
The 3rd day, next Wednesday November 13, will take the Lyonnaises to Italy to face AS Roma, leader of group 3 (on goal difference) after their big victory on the lawn of Galatasaray (6-1), Thursday .
