Sony WF-1000XM5 & WH-1000XM5: the 5 new functions brought by the update

With the WF-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM5, Sony ensures audio quality and noise reduction. These two market references were also entitled to a new smoky pink color in September 2024. Now follows a software update bringing several notable advantages to these devices.

For starters, Sony’s latest earphones and high-end headphones benefit from LDAC Multiploint. Thanks to this feature, it is possible to connect them to two devices simultaneously, making the transition between the two much easier.

Second new feature: Head Tracking. The earphones and headphones thus adapt the source of the sound according to the movements of the head made in front of the device they are using (smartphone, tablet, , computer, etc.). For example, when the user turns their head to the left, the sound remains positioned as if it were coming from the screen, creating an immersive experience where the soundstage remains consistent no matter which direction they are looking.

The Auto Switch then arrives, to directly transfer audio content to the LinkBuds portable speaker. Finally, the Sony WF-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM5 are now compatible with the Find My Device location network and Google’s Fast Pair pairing technology.

To benefit from the latest features, you will need to upgrade your device, whether it is the WF-1000XM5 with version 2.3.1 or the WH-1000XM5 with version 4.0.2, using the Sony Sound Connect app. The same new features are also available on the LinkBuds S headphones via update 4.2.1.
