WNBA: Not the debut hoped for for Caitlin Clark with the Fever losing to the Sun

Although she was her team’s most prolific player on offense, young sensation Caitlin Clark was unable to lead her team to victory and ran into trouble on defense in her first game ever in the WNBA on Tuesday.

Clark totaled 20 points, but the Indiana Fever lost 92-71 to the Connecticut Sun.

She also had three assists, but only completed five of her 15 shots in addition to making four of her eleven three-pointers.

On defense, Clark committed ten turnovers, the most in the WNBA in four years, according to Sports Reference. It has only happened 13 times in the 27 years of existence of the circuit that an athlete committed ten or more turnovers in a match. If it can reassure the rookie, great past stars of the WNBA like Diana Taurasi, Chamique Holdsclaw and Becky Hammon also appear on this list of 13 players.

DeWana Bonner had 20 points for the Sun to become the fifth-leading scorer in WNBA history

DiJonai Carrington and Tyhasa Harris each added 16 points for the Sun.

Alyssa Thomas, for her part, achieved her 12th career hat-trick with 13 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds.
