Five-year contract: Joey Daccord’s great story continues in Seattle

Even though he has only played one full season in the National Hockey League (NHL) since the start of his career, goaltender Joey Daccord received quite a vote of confidence from the Seattle Kraken.

The 28-year-old goaltender has signed a five-year contract extension that will earn him $5 million on average per year. The contract will be effective at the start of the 2025-2026 season.

Daccord established himself full-time in the NHL last season after several years in the minors. A product of Arizona State University, the goaltender from Boston, United States, was a seventh-round draft pick of the Ottawa Senators in 2015.

He was claimed by the Kraken during the franchise’s expansion draft in July 2021.

Last season, he collected 19 victories in 50 games in the Bettman circuit. However, he presented more than respectable statistics with an efficiency rate of 0.916 and a goals against average of 2.46. He also recorded three shutouts.

Following the granting of this pact, the Kraken could have two goaltenders with salaries above $5 million on their roster next season. German Philipp Grubauer pockets an annual salary of $5.9 million until the end of the 2026-2027 season.
