The Organizing Committee for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (COJOG) aims to overcome logistical and mobility challenges by relying on the Regional Express Train (TER). This was chosen as the official public carrier of the event, said coordinator Ibrahima Wade.

During a visit to the TER facilities at Colobane and Dakar stations, Mr Wade underlined the importance of this decision for the success of the YOG. He was accompanied by Cheikh Ibrahima Ndiaye, general director of the TER Management Company (SENTER).

Cheikh Ibrahima Ndiaye announced that an official memorandum of understanding will soon be established to formalize this strategic partnership. The objective is to demonstrate the potential of the TER to manage large-scale events.

As part of this partnership, measures have been taken to comply with international safety standards. Seven new trains must be received soon to improve the service. By 2026, the TER will be able to run a train every eight minutes between Blaise Diagne airport and Diamniadio, thus reaching the standards of European metros.
