Several options are available to the Montreal Canadiens, who have known since Tuesday evening that they will be drafted fifth overall in the next National Hockey League (NHL) draft.

Jean-Charles Lajoie also made an interesting proposal during the “Colisée” segment with Tony Marinaro on “JiC”, Wednesday on TVA Sports.

“Anaheim could be tempted to do a double take. If the Ducks call you, and you’re Kent Hughes, and they say, “Listen, I’m going to draft third overall, and then I’ll give you Trevor Zegras for the fifth pick,” what do you do? ?,” he asked his colleague.

The latter seemed doubtful at the idea of seeing the Habs give up the fifth selection in total for the American striker.

“I tell you no,” Marinaro replied. I’m not even convinced of my answer, and listen to my logic in that. Anaheim, in my opinion, has perhaps the best top-3 prospects in the NHL. […] If you trade your fifth pick, and they pick one [Tij] Iginla in addition to [Ivan] Demidov [au troisième rang], for example, how are you going to be able to beat this team one day? They already have the best young players.”

“Zegras has a very good agreement for another two years,” added Jean-Charles Lajoie. It fits well. I tell you, it works. We really like him in Montreal, and he’s a good friend of Cole Caufield.”

This season, the 23-year-old forward has six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 31 games.
