The date of the qualifying draw for the CAF African Nations Championship finally set

The date of the qualifying draw for the CAF African Nations Championship is set for Wednesday, October 9, 2024. The draw will take place at 2:00 p.m. Cairo time (11:00 GMT).

The tournament will take place in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from February 1 to 28, 2025. Before the final phase, two qualifying rounds will be organized in a two-way system.

The first round of qualifications will take place from October 25 to 27 and November 1 to 3, 2024. The second round is scheduled for December 20 to 22 and December 27 to 29, 2024. Since its creation in 2009, the African Championship Nations CAF serves as a showcase highlighting the exceptional talent and quality of African football, which continues to evolve.

As part of CAF’s main objective to strengthen the commercial competitiveness of its events, CHAN has also seen its marketed value grow. This increase was facilitated by a 60% increase in the tournament budget, allowing winners to take home $2 million.

The hosting of this event by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania also provides a chance for these three nations to improve their preparations before hosting the 2027 CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
