Erik Brannstrom’s time with the Colorado Avalanche was very brief, as he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday.

In return, the “Avs” obtained defenseman Tucker Poolman and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 draft. The British Columbia club also kept 20% of the 31-year-old rearguard’s salary. According to journalist Chris Johnston, the Canucks have placed the guard’s name on waivers to send him to the American Hockey League.

Brannstrom joined the Avalanche in July after not receiving a qualifying offer from the Ottawa Senators.

The 25-year-old Swede can be considered a draft bust. The Vegas Golden Knights selected him with the 15the overall pick in the 2017 amateur auction. They then traded him to the Ottawa team in the trade involving Mark Stone in February 2019.

In 266 career games in the National League, Brannstrom has hit the target seven times and provided 62 assists for 69 points.
