Match for the podium this Saturday • Neuchâtel Xamax

The end of the season is fast approaching for this Dieci Challenge League championship. Indeed, this Saturday, Neuchâtel Xamax welcomes FC Vaduz, at 6 p.m., a match which counts for the 34th day of the championship.

The Xamaxiens are still pursuing the objective of finishing on the championship podium. After having drawn two consecutive games, the Rouge et Noir delivered a great performance against AC Bellinzona last Friday. Trailing for a long time, Uli Forte’s men showed an excellent reaction and we were able to turn the tide in five minutes, with Hautier de Hadji’s goals at the very end of the match. This victory allowed the Rouge et Noir to move back to fourth place in the standings, just three points behind their weekend opponent, FC Vaduz. This match will therefore have an important stake, although this place only has an honorary status.

The Rouge et Noir will have a hard time facing the Liechtensteiners who currently constitute the best team in the championship. Indeed, Liridon Berisha’s teammates have five victories in the league as well as success in the semi-final of the Liechtenstein Cup. More generally, since the arrival of Marc Schneider on the FC Vaduz bench on February 14, the club has made an impressive rise in the standings, taking them from ninth to third place. Several players particularly stood out in this team which constitutes the second best attack in the championship. Djokic and Cavegn have respectively 14 and 12 goals to their credit, with also 11 assists for Théo Golliard. Last weekend, FC Vaduz won in a landslide against FC Aarau, with two goals in the 89th and 91st minute. Marc Schneider’s men will play the Liechtenstein Cup final this Wednesday against FC Triesenberg.

A nice challenge that faces Uli Forte’s team. Especially since so far this season, the Xamaxiens have not managed to win against FC Vaduz. During the first duel at La Maladière, the two teams parted with a score of 1-1, with a magnificent goal from Franck Surdez.

At the contingent level, the coach will be able to count on the returns from suspension of Schwizer, Abedini and Winkler. Opposite, Wieser will be absent from the game for accumulation of yellow cards.

During this meeting, the Xamaxiens will play in their white outfit, since the FC Vaduz players play either with red jerseys or with dark blue jerseys.
