The Rangers on their way

The Rangers are still undefeated in these NHL play-offs. The New York franchise leads 2-0 against Carolina in the Eastern Conference semi-finals, after sweeping Washington 4-0 in the first round.

But things get complicated for the Rangers, who needed two overtimes to defeat the Hurricanes on Monday. They won 4-3, after being led 1-2 in the 20th and 2-3 in the 39th, thanks to a success from Vincent Trochek after 7’24” of play in the second extra period.

Alexis Lafrenière signed a double for the Rangers, while goalkeeper Igor Shesterkin was credited with 54 saves in a game where New York put 39 shots on target. The management of special situations was decisive on Monday: the Rangers scored twice in ‘power play’, while the Hurricanes posted a 0/5 in this exercise.

Stunning Colorado

In the West, Colorado for its part signed the entry break against Dallas by winning 4-3 after overtime on the Stars’ ice. The Avalanche, which was trailing 3-0 in the 17th minute but equalized at 3-3 in the 41st minute, forced the decision with a success from Miles Wood after 11’03” in overtime.

No. 1 seed in the West, Dallas is however accustomed to doing so. The Texan franchise even lost the first two matches of its first round against the Vegas Golden Knights at home, before winning three in a row to finally win 4-3 against the defending champion.
