The Senegalese National Olympic Sports Committee (CNOSS) was in a steering committee meeting last Saturday in a local hotel. At the end of this meeting, the members of the CNOSS unanimously adopted the activity and financial reports of the structure during the previous year. At the end of the meeting, scholarships were awarded to the athletes of the federations.

The different federations met last Saturday in a local hotel for a steering committee of the “mother of federations”, the CNOSS. The president of this structure, Mr. Diagna Ndiaye, absent from the national territory, invited himself into the debate via a video conference. He welcomed the holding of this meeting and addressed words of welcome to all participants.

“The meeting was held in accordance with the rules with the quorum which was reached and the steering committee unanimously voted for the activity and financial reports for the period 2021-2023”, immediately supported Mr. Ibrahima Wade, vice-president of the Senegalese national Olympic and sports committee.

According to him, the CNOSS steering committee also took stock of the athletes’ preparation for the next Paris 2024 Olympic Games. “We took this opportunity to talk about the state of support for our Cap 2024 athletes. That is to say, the 18 athletes who had benefited either from an Olympic solidarity scholarship or from special support from the Olympic committee with extremely convincing results in terms of sporting results and qualification. Others are looking for qualification and we have high hopes for them. We once again took the opportunity to present the progress of the YOG that our country is due to host in 2026,” continued Mr. Ibrahima Wade.

The activity and financial reports were adopted unanimously. He also took the opportunity to wish the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture success to his cabinet director. “We are ready to take the journey with her and that starts with the Paris 2024 games,” he added. Tanor Gning renewed the thanks of the Minister of Sports to the CNOSS. “I would like to renew the Minister’s thanks to the members of the CNOSS. Your meeting today is in line with accountability. Everything you have carried out in recent years, financially, morally and otherwise, has been reviewed by the federation presidents here present. I congratulate you on behalf of the Minister of Sports for this exercise in transparency and democracy. Everything that is developed and implemented will naturally be done with the umbrella body that is the CNOSS. I reiterate his availability to meet you as soon as possible with President Diagna Ndiaye in mind to discuss with you the new directions of sports policy codified by the President of the Republic, especially with regard to the financing of sport,” revealed the chief of staff of the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture.

At the end of the meeting, the Senegalese national Olympic and sports committee presented each of the athletes qualified for Paris 2024 and for the Paralympic Games of the same year with a check for 3,000 euros, or more than two million FCFA. Seven athletes are concerned, they are Combe Seck and Ives Bourhis (Canoeing), Mbagnick Ndiaye (Judo), Bocar Diop (Taekwondo), Luis François Mendy (Athletics), Ndeye Bineta Ndiongue (Fencing) and Idrissa Keita (Para Taekwondo ).
