A month after his heavy fall in the Vuelta, Wout van Aert was able to get back on his bike to complete a short tour of just over thirty kilometers.

A month ago, on September 3, Wout van Aert was forced to retire from the Vuelta. However, everything was going perfectly for the Belgian who had already won 3 stages and who was almost guaranteed to win the green jersey.

Proof of his good form, WvA was even involved in the fight for the tunic of best climber, but a fall on the descent of the Llomena pass forced him to abandon during the 16th stage.

After a heavy fall at the start of the season, Wout van Aert had to return to rehabilitation, for example walking with crutches, finally abandoned in a trash can at the end of September.

And deliverance finally arrived this Friday, the rider from the Visma Lease-a-bike team was able to get back on his bike to complete a short 32 kilometer loop with one of his usual traveling companions: Jan Bakelants. “Woo-hoo,” van Aert captioned his Strava post, clearly delighted to be able to cycle again.

The Belgian will no longer ride on the road this year, but has already announced that he will compete in cyclocross during the winter.
