The Red Devils will meet again next week to prepare for the upcoming Nations League matches, which will include two high-profile encounters against Italy and France. These meetings will take place with a considerably reworked core.
Domenico Tedesco announced his selection on Friday, in which, as expected, De Bruyne and Lukaku were missing and four debutants were included: Vandevoordt, Smets, Fofana and Ngonge. The national team is therefore gradually renewing itself in depth.
Vercauteren leaves the Belgian Union
This month, Tedesco will still be able to count on the support of Frank Vercauteren as technical director, but that will not last long. In fact, his contract is expiring and will not be renewed.
The November international period will therefore be Vercauteren’s last report, after which his adventure within the football association will be over. What awaits Vercauteren next remains a mystery.
Return to Russia
Het Nieuwsblad reports that he has already made a decision. After Vercauteren traveled back and forth incessantly for a year and a half, he will now settle permanently in Russia. This is in fact where his wife and child still live.
As for his sporting career, it remains to be determined. Vercauteren does not seem to have decided yet whether, at 67, he will seek a new challenge as a coach or sporting director. We will therefore have to wait for the next few months to find out.
