Two giants of Europe have put their foot down: Real Madrid and Bayern Munich both lost 1-0, in and Aston Villa respectively, on Wednesday for the 2nd day of the Champions League, which also saw the Juventus Turin overthrow Leipzig (3-2).

Real, reigning European champions, disappointed at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium. Certainly, Lille was enterprising and dynamic from the first period, notably forcing Thibault Courtois’ replacement, Lunin, to make a double point-blank save on Jonathan David, following an aerial cross from Edon Zhegrova.
The same David transformed without trembling the penalty obtained via a handball in the area from Eduardo Camavinga on a free kick from Zhegrova, just before half-time.

Through parades and surpassing oneself, Lucas Chevalier and the Lille defense were able to maintain the result despite the entry into play of Kylian Mbappé, returning from injury. Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham missed out on their match. Les Dogues and Real are on three points in two matches played.

Bayern Munich, undefeated this season so far, fell on a bone in Birmingham, home of the Aston Villa club, which after having had a surprising season last year continues to shine. Former SG coach Unai Emery holds an exploit against the dominant formation of Vincent Kompany, who broke his teeth on a great Emiliano Martinez in the Villans goals.
And the incoming Jhon Duran scored a fantastic goal by spontaneously lobbing Manuel Neuer, too advanced. Aston Villa have six points, Munich three.

For its part, Thiago Motta’s Juventus Turin created a small feat in Leipzig because even when they were reduced to 10 following the exclusion of their goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, they were able to equalize twice, before taking the advantage (3-2). A double from Dusan Vlahovic notably responded to Benjamin Sesko’s double.

Liverpool and their new coach Arne Slot, successor to Jürgen Klopp, continued to shine with a second easy victory, against Bologna (2-0), including a sublime goal from Mohamed Salah.

Surprisingly, Atletico Madrid, who snatched a draw against Real last weekend in La Liga, were corrected 4-0 by Benfica in Lisbon.
Monaco, for its part, recovered from a 2-0 disadvantage on the soggy pitch of Dinamo Zagreb (2-2).
