Quinton Byfield scored a hat trick and helped the Los Angeles Kings win 4-1 against the Boston Bruins at the Videotron Center in Quebec City on Thursday.

Adrian Kempe was the other scorer for the Kings (4-0-1), while Kevin Fiala had two assists. David Rittich only gave up once in 12 throws.

Patrick Brown was the only one who outsmarted him. Joonas Korpisalo allowed four goals on 23 shots in front of the Bruins net (2-3-1).

Byfield opened the scoring with eight minutes left in the second period, with a one-timer from the right circle. He then added more 25 seconds later, grabbing a putback in front of the net.

Brown reduced the gap on the following sequence.

Kempe restored the Kings’ two-goal lead shorthanded, taking advantage of a nice feed from Anze Kopitar on a surplus.

Byfield completed his hat trick with eight minutes gone in the final period. He redirected a pass from Phillip Danault and placed the puck behind Korpisalo.

Before the meeting, Patrice Bergeron was honored by the Quebec crowd. A native of Ancienne-Lorette, Bergeron played with the Bruins for 19 seasons. He announced his retirement in July 2023.
