Barely a year the descent to the Championship, Leicester will return to the Premier next season. But it will be without Dennis Praet. If the Foxes won the title in the elite antechamber, the Belgian has played too little for his taste (only 900 minutes of play, spread over 20 matches) and is reaching the end of his contract.

The ideal opportunity to take on a new challenge at almost 30 years old (he will celebrate his birthday on May 14). In an interview with Nieuwsblad, the Devil said he was open to anything, “at least in ”. Which means that a return to Belgium is not excluded. “The Belgian teams can always call me,” he told the Dutch-speaking newspaper.

Dennis Praet, a centenary at Leicester in the fog

Courted by Antwerp this winter to replace Arthur Vermeeren who left for Atlético , the former Anderlecht player ultimately stayed at Leicester. “There was interest but it was not the best solution. And then we had to talk about money again which made things even more difficult. As a free agent, I am stronger now,” he believes, touching on the possibility of returning to Anderlecht.

Free, Dennis Praet will therefore have all the freedom to choose his next club. With a preference for a particular country: “Italy will always have an advantage.” After playing for three years at Sampdoria and a season at Torino, the midfielder would like to make his return: “Tactical football in Italy suits me perfectly and life in Italy is also an advantage. Plus, I speak the language.”

Now on vacation, Praet says he is ready to come back urgently if coach Domenico Tedesco ever calls him for the Euro. “But I don’t think I’m still counting,” he says, focused above all on his next club adventure.

Antwerp and Bruges refused to pay 10 million for Praet
