JUSTICE – Four years after the events, the murderer of Christopher Aurier, brother of Galatasaray player Serge Aurier, was convicted. The Haute-Garonne Assize Court handed down a 23-year prison sentence against this man, now 31 years old.
“I didn’t want to distract from what’s essential. Christopher’s life was cut short by an assassin. I am a man whose family has been broken forever”spoke Serge Aurier during the trial, via a letter read by the family’s lawyer, as reported La Dépêche du Midi.
The facts, admitted by the suspect, dated back to July 2020. A man aged 27 at the time had confessed to having fatally shot Christopher Aurier, leaving a nightclub in an industrial zone on the outskirts of Toulouse.

Romantic jealousy
Rescued at the scene of the shooting, injured in the abdomen, Christopher Aurier, aged 26 in 2020, died after being transferred to hospital.
The killer presented himself at the Toulouse central police station to confess to his act. He was immediately incarcerated after his indictment, also for illegal possession of weapons. Drunk, he claimed to have been moved by jealousy after seeing Christopher Aurier discussing with his partner. The latter had in the past maintained a relationship with the victim.
Cadet of the Ivorian international footballer, and trained like him at RC Lens, Christopher Aurier was also playing football at the material time, but at an amateur level, licensed at Toulouse Rodéo (5th division).
