“Our security department continues to work with police to identify the other individuals involved, who will also be permanently banned as soon as they are located,” the club said in a statement.

The match was interrupted in the 69th minute when Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, a former Atlético player, reported to the referee that he had been targeted by opposing supporters who threw various objects at him, including lighters. Coach Diego Simeone and several players intervened to appease the ultras, some of whom were hooded.

The incident occurred when Real had just opened the scoring thanks to Eder Militao (64th, 1-0). The match was interrupted for around ten minutes by decision of the referee, before resuming once calm was restored.

In its press release, Atlético stressed that it would “immediately” incorporate into its internal regulations the ban on the use of any element or clothing concealing a person’s face inside the stadium, insisting that any violation of this rule will result in immediate expulsion from the enclosure.
