Where are the Algerian full-backs?

At the end of September, when the seasons are already well underway and autumn has officially begun, DZfoot invites you to take stock of the situation of our Greens.

Having succeeded in the previous international break with two victories in two matches, Vladimir Petkovic’s National Team has allowed itself a little leeway and will approach the double confrontation against Togo with more serenity.

If, collectively, Algeria is doing better, the Greens’ previous outing was not a smooth ride with a large number of injuries and unavailability which gave rise to many concerns. Let’s look at the players position by position.

The best, and the equivalent

The previous international break was marked by the last minute package of Rayan Aït-Nouri. Present in Sidi Moussa, the left-back had not played against Equatorial Guinea or Liberia. He was thus replaced by Jaouen Hadjam. Since then, things have evolved relatively little for the Algerian full-backs, noting also that Ramy Bensebaïni is considered more of a central defender since he occupies this position in the selection.

Left, Ait-Nouri is in great form with Wolverhampton, and the injury he suffered before the break did not prevent him from moving on to the Premier League. He even scored against Liverpool this weekend while his club is last in the general standings.

Hadjamhe was a substitute (but came on as a substitute) twice in a row in the Swiss championship after missing his match against Aston Villa in C1. At 21, his apprenticeship at the highest level continues.

Khacef was there during the previous international break and he even came on as a substitute against Liberia. On the CRB side, everything is going well for him, who even scored against AC Leopards in the preliminary round of the Champions League.

We will also note the good performance of Mehdi Dorvalwho now plays on the left, or the irregular playing time of Yasser Larouci with Watford.

Right side, Youcef Atal has found a club but… he is still not eligible for the championship! The result is therefore very mixed for the right-back, who was interesting when he came into play and who has since only had one match in the AFC Champions League to show himself.

If Mandi had helped out against Equatorial Guinea in this position, it is above all Mohamed Farsi who had shone against Liberia. He is still a starter in MLS, and still relatively interesting, although the season does not follow the same schedule as those of many other federations.

Behind these two names, and with the exception of Saâdi Radouani which is often interesting with the USMA, no solution appears to be brilliant for Vladimir Petkovic. Dorval now plays on the left, therefore, and Kevin Guitounhe is confined to the reserve of FC which he absolutely wishes to leave, like AKim Zedadka and LOSC. Mehdi Zeffane doesn’t have a club whileHoucine Benayada et Play Halaïmia do not appear in Petkovic’s plans. The margin is therefore quite limited.
