Learning about Canadian prospect Ivan Demidov in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) is not necessarily easy and his game on Sunday was another brilliant proof of that.

Even though he registered an assist in the 5-4 defeat of SKA Saint Petersburg at the hands of Red Star Kunlun, number 91 attracted the wrath of his head coach Roman Rotenberg. The latter hardly appreciated a penalty taken by the 18-year-old midway through the middle period. Demidov caused an opponent who was skating at high speed nearby to trip, despite himself, and the driver’s sanction was immediately imposed.
The forward spent the rest of the second period on the bench and in the third period, he was limited to one presence on the ice, lasting 1 min 20 s. In total, he played 7:32 and was not used on the power play.

This season, he has four goals and as many assists in 10 games.
