La Gantoise won 4-2 at Club Brugge last weekend. Max Dean opened the scoring shortly before half-time and immediately celebrated his goal in front of the Bruges kop, which will of course do a lot for his popularity rating.
Buffalos fans are delighted with their new striker. “I received a lot of messages on Instagram. The fans wrote to me how important it was to win in Bruges,” he began in Het Laatste Nieuws.
But obviously not everyone was happy with his attitude. “There were also some unpleasant messages from Club supporters. That’s part of the game. If I provoke, I have to accept the reactions. That’s what I like.”
Dean is clear: he doesn’t want to be just an average striker who scores a goal on the weekend. Its aim is to give the public value for their money.
“I don’t want to be a boring football player. When I’m on the pitch, I want to have fun. I want to give people something they don’t forget easily – that’s why I do it “I don’t want to be a robot. Football is about emotion. When I score, I want to celebrate it in my own way, so be it.”
