By losing on the Parisian club’s ground (3-1), Angers lost its 2nd place in the ranking to the benefit of the Greens.
Saint-Étienne took second place in the Ligue 2 championship thanks to its home victory against Caen (1-0) and the defeat of Angers on the field of Paris FC (3-1), Saturday during of the 35th day. The Greens temporarily return to one point behind leader Auxerre who will only play Monday at Dunkirk (16th) at the end of the day. But above all Saint-Étienne is now ahead of Angers (3rd) by two lengths with three days remaining. Only the first two will be directly promoted to Ligue 1.
At the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium the only goal of the match was scored in the 3rd minute by Aïmen Moueffek, with a flat left foot flush with the right post of Anthony Mandrea’s goal, after a subtle backheel from Irvin Cardonna. Olivier Dall’Oglio’s team thus achieves a sixth home victory.
At the Charléty stadium, Paris FC, in the play-off position for accession (5th), won at the expense of Angers who had two consecutive victories and had not lost in five matches. The Parisians scored through Ayoub Jabbari (18th), Yan Valery against his side (79th) and Ilan Kebbal (83rd). The Angevins had equalized at 1-1 by Pierrick Capelle (41st). Paris still remains six lengths behind its opponent of the day.
Rodez continues
One point ahead of Paris, Rodez (4th) continues to surprise. Didier Santini’s team won 2-1 at Concarneau which suddenly fell to 19th place, overtaken on goal difference by Quevilly (18th) who drew 1-1 at Ajaccio ( 11th). In the race for the accession play-offs Pau performed poorly by losing 2-1 at home against Guingamp (9th). The Béarnais club (7th) is now four points behind Paris FC.
Bastia led 3-0 after only 6 minutes of play
Conversely, Annecy (15th) gave itself a breath of fresh air in the race to maintain its position by dominating Bastia (12th) 3-2 at home at the end of a match full of twists and turns. The Haut-Savoyards actually led 3-0 after… 6 minutes of play! But the Corsicans came back into the game and scored twice in the second half (including 1 penalty), and even came close to equalizing. Finally Bordeaux (14th) experienced another disappointment, beaten 1-0 at Laval (6th, 3 pts behind Paris FC) and reduced to ten in the 74th minute following the exclusion of Gaëtan Weissbeck for two yellow cards.
