As part of its collaboration with Spotify, FC Barcelona will wear the Coldplay logo on October 27, during the Clasico in La Liga on the Real Madrid pitch.

After Drake in 2022 and the Rolling Stones in 2023 in particular, it’s time for Coldplay in 2024. On the occasion of the Clasico on October 27 on the Real Madrid pitch in La Liga, FC Barcelona will wear a special jersey in reference to the British pop rock group, as reported by Sport.

“Viva la vida”, a hit linked to Barça

This tribute comes as part of the agreement between the Blaugrana club and Spotify. Since the arrival of the Swedish giant as a partner, FC Barcelona has multiplied initiatives of this style. The singers Rosalia and Karol G had also had the right to have their logo on the Barça jersey, respectively in March 2023 and April 2024. In October 2022, Drake was the first artist to be honored.

As for Coldplay, the band’s song “Viva la vida” had become a lucky charm for the team during Pep Guardiola’s time as coach. The song was released in 2008, the year the current Manchester City coach took his first steps on the Barcelona bench. Lionel Messi and his teammates had gotten into the habit of celebrating titles to the rhythm of “Viva la vida” at the time.

Coldplay also has a connection with the city of Barcelona since that golden era for Barça. The members of the group had performed four concerts in the city in May 2023, also attending a training session of the team, then managed by Xavi. The group’s new album will also be released on October 4, a few weeks before the Clasico.
