Tell me if I’m telling you something: Lane Hutson comes from another planet. That’s what I thought! The entire hockey world (especially the one located in Quebec) is aware of the unique or extraordinary talent that lives inside the young 20-year-old brigadier.

Whether it’s his high pass, which is still featured in every highlight today, his footwork, his vision or his intelligence, Lane Hutson knows how to dazzle us. He may only have two tiny games under his belt, but he carries himself like a veteran. Nothing less.

When a veteran of David Savard’s caliber says that “it’s easy to play with Lane,” it perfectly sums up the latter’s quality as a hockey player. Savard’s dialogue with Hutson practically confirms the future status of number 48: he will be in uniform on October 9 to face the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Here is what Savard had to say about Lane Hutson’s prowess:

“You need guys like Lane Hutson… I think he makes really good reads too. There’s no bad puck losses or anything from him. It always makes sense (to him) even if it doesn’t make sense in my head. But when you see what he tries to do sometimes, it seems crazy, but it works. His vision is elite. It’s fun to watch him come in, make plays and make a difference for the team. We need players like that if we want to take the next step. He’s one of those guys that’s going to make a difference for us in the future, for sure!”

I have to say it a second time: when a veteran of Savard’s caliber opens up like this about Lane Hutson, it makes what we see of him real. It’s a STUD!
