PGA merchandise totaling more than $25,000 was stolen from Montreal’s Queen Elizabeth Hotel over the weekend.

A complaint was filed with the SPVM regarding the theft of numerous items from the prestigious downtown Montreal hotel.

The establishment is a partner of the Presidents Cup, which will host the world’s golf elite from September 24 to 29 at the Royal Montreal Golf Club.

On Friday evening, an individual reportedly showed up at the hotel and stole a suitcase containing several official items of clothing from the tournament and the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA).

The latter is said to have returned to the Queen Elizabeth the next morning, dressed in the stolen clothes in order to pass incognito, and to have stolen various items: polo shirts, caps, jackets and shoes. The theft allegedly took place while the hotel’s security guards were on union picket duty, according to information obtained by TVA Nouvelles.

The stolen official clothing, which tournament players were to wear for the Presidents Cup, is said to have a total value of more than $25,000.

Although the SPVM confirmed that it had received a complaint, management at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel declined to comment at this time. The Presidents Cup and the PGA have also not commented on the matter.
