Removed from the tracks since last December and the announcement in The Team After his sporting retirement, Pierre-Ambroise Bosse had since focused on his association combining sport and ecology which he launched with his friend and ex-international Bryan Cantero while taking part in two reality TV shows.

However, the 2017 world champion in the 800m was overtaken by an end to his career far from his expectations since according to our information – which the athlete confirmed – he was suspended for a year at the beginning of April by the French Anti-Doping Agency (AFLD) for three breaches of its whereabouts obligations.

Indeed, the former French international was notified of breaches three times between September 2022 and June 2023, a period when he was trying to become a high-level athlete again despite a hamstring injury.

The first breach dates back to September 25, 2022, when an anti-doping controller came to his home to carry out a test during the time slot planned by the athlete, but Bosse was not present. “I was one foot in training, one foot on vacation”he summarizes with his usual lightness, which this time cost him dearly.

It is true that at the time, the Frenchman had just experienced a season of ups and downs with a return to the forefront after already a long absence to treat his thigh after the Tokyo Olympics (eliminated in the semi-finals). He had managed to sign the minimums for the Eugene Worlds during the Diamond League (1’44”54), before withdrawing for the rest of the season after the meeting in and a withdrawal from his team. right hamstring tendon.

Operated in December 2022, Bosse then launched into a race against time with the dream of taking part in his fourth Olympic Games in Paris, having notably finished 4th in the 800m at the Rio Games. Having become a swimmer-runner (he swam a lot to avoid putting too much strain on his thigh), the Frenchman found color in training until May 2023, when everything changed.

On May 1, 2023, while he was with his family near , the athlete could not be reached while a controller sought to control him. According to his version and the one he explained to the AFLD, the athlete was indeed present but the information to locate him was not precise enough as the AFLD will indicate in its notification. “I wasn’t worried at that time because I had forgotten the previous one and so I thought I only had one”he summarizes.

So, when on June 11, 2023, a controller showed up again at his home for a check at the scheduled times on the ADAMS software, the athlete was obviously not there, and was notified a few weeks later of a probable two-year suspension for breaches of his obligations. Dejected and stunned, Bosse still tried to defend himself by seeking to justify the second violation by a problem with the absence of a bell.

A period where he also thinks about what comes next and while he goes through administrative back and forths with the AFLD to justify his failings, he makes the decision to stop his career, his body having failed him, before the head does the same. Appeared before the AFLD Sanctions Commission on March 27 (date of the start of the suspension) where he was defended by the former Secretary of State for Sports and lawyer Thierry Braillard, he finally received only a year, certain negligence having been blamed on him.

“I made three mistakes, I accepthe indicates. It is true that I have not always been the best student when it comes to taking care of my location, but until then, it had never played any tricks on me. I know I should have been more serious but I would like to point out that I have been in the AFLD target group since 2012 and they have all my analyses. »
