Wout van Aert and Visma-Lease a Bike, it’s a business that’s going well. So well that it could last for a very long time. The Belgian has extended with the Dutch team and signed a contract there… until the end of his career.

“I didn’t have to think long when the idea came up,” van Aert says in a statement. “First of all, because in the Visma – Lease a Bike team we work with the best people and the best equipment. Together we are constantly looking for improvements, which means that we continue to develop individually but also as a team. I owe a lot of my success to that, we really do it together. But apart from that, I feel very comfortable in this team, which is very important to me. This team is unique and has suited me for five years, and I want to keep it that way. That’s why I decided to stay here forever, and I feel really good.”

Van Aert, 30, joined the Dutch team in 2019, when it was still called Jumbo-Visma. Since then, he has won nine stages of the Tour de and three of the Vuelta as well as Milan-Sanremo, the Amstel Gold Race, the Strade Bianche and the Circuit Het Nieuwsblad.

Bronze medallist at the Games in the time trial, van Aert will not be in action again this year following his heavy fall during the Vuelta.
