The last three regattas of the preliminary rounds of the Louis Vuitton Cup, a prelude to the America’s Cup in Barcelona, were temporarily suspended on Sunday due to the weather, the organizers announced.
While the AC75s of the six teams entered had left the port at the end of the morning, the storm forecast for the early afternoon over the water prompted the organizers to ask all competitors to return to the hangars temporarily. “We want to monitor this storm and we believe it will pass in the next few hours. If we feel that racing cannot resume at 3:15 p.m. (GMT+2), we will abandon the race for the day.”they explained in a statement.
France hopes for a Swiss misstep
This final day of sailing sees the Italian challenge Luna Rossa, leader of the ranking with six races won against one defeat, face the Swiss of Alinghi (4th, 2-5). In case of victory, the Swiss will ensure their qualification for the semi-finals.
