It was one of the most memorable images of the opening ceremony of the Paris Games on July 26. A metal horse named “Zeus” galloped on the Seine, crossing Paris for six kilometers, carrying on its back a mysterious rider and the Olympic flag. A fantastic ride, a futuristic scene, of rare urban poetry, a symbol of solidarity, resilience and peace, inspired by the work of the English photographer Eadweard Muybridge.

This work imagined by the Nantes architecture and design studio Atelier Blam was entirely made in France. The horse and the rider’s armor are also the property of Sanofi, a partner of Paris 2024. Several trades were called upon: boilermakers, mechanics, engineers, designers, architects, etc. The result is a masterpiece that combines craftsmanship and technology. Made of aluminum hulls and measuring 1.80 m, “Zeus” will bring the spirit of the Games to life during the Paralympics since it will be able to be admired in the courtyard of the Hôtel de Ville from August 28.

It’s free, but reservations are required. Don’t wait too long to get your tickets!
