“it’s better for me to keep quiet”, Diego Simeone annoyed by the Olmo and Vinicius cases

Present at a press conference this Saturday on the eve of the match between Atlético de Madrid and Osasuna in La Liga, Diego Simeone was questioned about the Dani Olmo case – authorized by the government to play with Barça – and the sanction considered “lenient ” against Real Madrid player Vinicius Jr. The response from the Colchoneros coach was clear.

After the vitriolic press release shared by Atlético de Madrid on its official website on Thursday, a few hours after the decision of the Spanish Sports Council to authorize Barça to replay Dani Olmo and Victor on a provisional basis, the reaction of Diego Simeone was expected.

Present this Saturday at a press conference, the Colchoneros coach, although he did not dwell on the issue, still explained that he “absolutely agrees” with the press release shared by the Madrid club.

“It’s better for me to keep quiet.”

In it, Atlético expressed “its deep concern about the situation generated in Spanish football by the resolution adopted by the Superior Sports Council”. “We consider that this decision endangers the current system, by calling into question the rules of the game,” it is specified. “This sets a very dangerous precedent, as it opens the door to circumventing the rules and repeating the serious mistakes of the past. Without clear and equal rules for all, no fair competition is possible.”

When leaving the journalists present this Saturday, “El Cholo” Simeone, questioned about this decision in favor of Barça and the leniency in the sanction targeting the Real player Vinicius Jr after his bad gesture in Valencia (which only earned him two suspension matches), still made it clear “that it was better for him to keep quiet”. A way to protect yourself and not add fuel to an already well-stoked fire…
