the call of Jonathan David's foot to Barça, his “dream”

Questioned by The Athletic, LOSC striker Jonathan David expressed the wish to one day wear the colors of FC Barcelona.

What if this time it was the right one? While he had an exit voucher this summer, one year from the end of his contract, Jonathan David (24) ultimately stayed in . The Canadian international striker (29 goals in 56 caps) is in resplendent form with LOSC, particularly in the Champions League, a competition where he has already scored important goals (Real, Juventus, double against Atlético), begins its fifth season in the North. The last one?

“Some will say: 'Oh, he stays in Lille, it's a regression'

At the end of the contract, Jonathan David has not yet committed to a renewal of his lease which expires in June. This summer, there will undoubtedly be many opportunities to explore a new championship, and there will be no shortage of courtiers. His preference? “FC Barcelona has always been the team I supported growing up. When you grow up supporting a team, you dream of playing for them,” Jonathan David told The Athletic.

His three goals against the two Madrid clubs, especially Real, are all arguments which could plead in his favor, perhaps not as much as these qualities which make him a complete attacker, but which will undoubtedly weigh with Barça supporters if the opportunity presents itself. A transfer to a European giant has never seemed so close for the Canadian striker, who should however remain in Lille at least until the end of the season. “Some will say: ‘Oh, he stays at Lille, it’s a regression, he’s not improving’. But for me, there are always opportunities to improve,” Jonathan David explains to The Athletic.
