Gyokeres at PSG, it's the war of scoops

Viktor Gyokeres is taking on an incredible dimension in Europe with his recital in the Champions League. Contrary to Thursday's announcements, PSG is in the running to bring him in.

There is a new cyborg in European football. In 2020, arriving from Austria in the transfer window, Erling Haaland shocked Europe by stacking up goals thanks to his power, his heading, and his striking power. Since this period, even with his transfer to Manchester City, the Norwegian has been tormenting European defenses with mind-blowing statistics, even if he has not always been present in major events.

He may be two years older than Haaland, but Viktor Gyokeres has taken off spectacularly for two years. First by piling up the goals in English D2 for Coventry, then by confirming with Sporting Portugal. The Swedish player has averaged one goal per match for 18 months, and he always manages to gain momentum, like his hat-trick against Manchester City this week.

As Portuguese clubs always sell very well, there is little doubt about his departure during or at the end of the season. The name of PSG has often been whispered but it causes serious disagreements in the French press. Le Parisien revealed this Thursday that the capital club, although lacking offensively, was not looking towards Viktor Gyokeres, whose profile does not please Luis Enrique.

Gyokeres, a priceless scorer

Information brutally contradicted this Friday, since L'Equipe and Sky Sports affirm that Luis Campos entered into discussions with the player as well as with the leaders of Sporting with a view to a transfer in the coming months. Such an arrival would obviously be very expensive for PSG, who would recover an attacker at the height of his market value, around 80 million euros once again, but would clearly change the face of his team with a player capable of weighing on the defenses and finishing actions. And given PSG's current situation this season, such a player is probably priceless.
