As part of the 20th anniversary of the Bastide Marin, “La Ciotat il peut être une fois” presents in preview this Saturday, June 29 at 9:30 p.m., its new historic show “Révélations, you’re arriving now!” The story of a place that invites us to travel, a journey through time, a fantastic epic with the intersecting destinies of historical figures who lived here.

From the time of the Celts to the present day, the place crosses time and takes us with it through the closely linked history of Ceyreste and La Ciotat, because the bastide was on the lands of Ceyreste until 1675. The resistance of the place throughout history and the importance of women wives of navigators will also be highlighted.

Time no longer has any influence on art

Between submission and resistance, from happy days to tragedies, the intrigue is revealed throughout the paintings where the visible and the invisible make common cause. A mirror of present times, history also weaves its web between memories, contemporary and future times.

The resolutely theatrical tone is set from the first minutes of the work. The historical characters are the heroic actors in a setting of multiple eras, all linked by an enigma story about the mysteries of the place. The great historical facts mingle with the little history of the places in Provence and its people.

The script for the show written and directed by Mireille Bénédetti comes from a historical novel which will be released on November 1st at the Salle Paul-Eluard during the Book and Culture Fair organized by La Ciotat culture. A way to prolong the pleasure in a few months.

“Revelations, you arrive now!” Saturday June 29. Preview at 9:30 p.m. at the Agora space in the Bastide Marin. Written and directed by Mireille Benedetti. A production of “La Ciotat, once upon a time.” Prices: 15 euros (10 euros/child) for the benefit of the bastide. Doors open at 8 p.m. Small meal at the tavern. Places are limited, reservations here.
