Mathieu Poussethe coach of Saint-Pryvé Saint-Hilaire, the next opponent of the Girondins de Bordeaux, spoke to the FFF on several subjects related to his team. Here are his answers.
The objective for 2024-2025
“Do better than the previous season! We remain a modest National 2 club, driven by our values and the desire to progress year after year. Stability is important in the national championships, everything can go very quickly so firstly, we must maintain ourselves, as easily as possible, in order to be able to reach the top of the table afterwards. The keys to a successful season in National 2? I have to insist on the state of mind because it is a homogeneous and very competitive championship. Daily life is not always easy so you have to have the will to evolve. It is essential to have a good group of players and especially men, who correspond to the values that we broadcast. Also, we are convinced that our results will come through the game, the idea is to offer quality football.”
The strengths of his team
“A great state of mind, the desire to get three points in all matches, combativeness and great success in the offensive sector. We create a lot of chances, we score in all the matches, like during our summer preparation. I appreciate this conquering face shown by the players and I hope that this continues throughout the season.”
Training pace, working conditions
“We train five to six times a week, with days sometimes having two training sessions. I'm lucky that in my group, three quarters don't work on the sidelines. For those who have a professional activity or studies to manage, they manage to reconcile the two even if they have to miss a few sessions. We do our best to ensure that working conditions are optimal for everyone and overall, we are in good conditions to perform, although not all N2 clubs are in the same boat.”
