RC Lens experienced a real blood loss this summer, parting ways with several key elements. The hard blow undoubtedly came from the sidelines, with the departure of Franck Haise. The iconic coach has chosen to continue his career in Ligue 1, at OGC Nice. However, the former Lensois strategist could have opted for a more exotic and lucrative destination: a fantastic offer from a Saudi club was on the table, but Haise preferred to decline this golden bridge.
RC Lens has turned one of the most beautiful pages in its history with the departure of Franck Haise. The latter spent seven seasons in Artois but he had desires elsewhere and therefore signed up with l’OGC Nice. A choice above all sporting because if he was looking for money, Stink would not have failed a Saudi club.
Haise reveals existence of contact with Saudi Arabia
“I had first contact the week of May 26. With Fabrice Bocquet (general manager of Nice), whom I knew (from Lorient). The exchanges were direct and clear. Great with the president. I had two other very interesting contacts with two other French clubs in the same week. Two others for abroad, one English and one in Saudi Arabia. I wanted to stay in France. I felt pretty quickly that Nice really wanted me,” recognized Franck Haise in an interview given to The team. The latter regrets the way he left.

I was attached to Lens. When we play Montpellier, it’s not certain that I’ll leave. I had everything prepared for pre-season. We are only qualified for a preliminary round (of the Conference League). It was very frustrating. Hence the letter I sent (to the supporters). I thought I was going to stay. The very last few days, I said to myself, “Take a vacation and see what’s happening.” regretted Franck Haise.
