Julien Stephan rails against arbitration

If PSG’s victory against Stade Rennais does not suffer from any dispute, the Bretons coach, Julien Stephan, did not appreciate the refereeing of the match.

Mission accomplished for PSG. After a zero result on the pitch stadium
(1-1) last week, the reigning French champions got back on track with a deserved success against the Stade Rennais (3-1). Despite a decimated squad, the Rouge & Bleu were able to rely on great performances from
Bradley Barcola
, João Neves or even
Lee Kang-In.

“If at the Park, we deserve to have two penalties, we must be whistled for them”

After dominating for 70 minutes, the Parisians relaxed at the end of the match with a few scares. In a post-match press conference, the Rennais coach, Julien
Stephan
railed against the arbitration ofHakim Ben El Hadj. The French technician particularly criticizes the goal refused to Alidu Seidu for a hand fault which would have allowed his team to return to 3-2 at the end of the match or even a hand not whistled by Warren
Zaïre-Emery
in the Parisian area. Two acts of play ultimately well refereed. “And they have Parcwe deserve to have two penalties, they must be whistled at us. We whistle with our mouths, we go all the way and we don’t hesitate. Last year it cost us the victory here, I’m not saying that this time it also cost us the victory. But there you go, there is certainly a penalty which should have been whistled on the hand of
Zaïre-Emery. I have not seen the action ofAlidu SeiduI don’t know what happened. I guess it’s justified if it was checked. At 3-2 with 10 minutes to go, the match would have been interesting to watch”
declared the coach of the Bretons, in comments reported by RMC
Sport
.

On the other hand, Julien Stéphan does not call into question the victory of PSG and the
Parisian superiority
in this meeting:
“We were dominated by a team capable of punishing us for very long actions and loss of balls which were fatal to us. My regret is the balls recovered in the last 30 meters, which we did not improve. The decision was to press them. We took this first goal in a strong moment for us. We absolutely had to progress very quickly in recovery (…) A PSG
better than last season? Yes, but it’s still early to compare. They are strong individually in duels, they snatch a lot of balls. They are capable of pressing, of falling back, they are solid even if we saw some flaws at the end of the match, even if there were some changes at the end of the match and a different dynamic. »
