According to RMC Sport, DAZN would like to renegotiate its contract worth 400 million euros per year on average, for the broadcast of eight Ligue 1 matches live every weekend (and one delayed). The new majority broadcaster of the French championship would not be at all satisfied with its number of subscribers. The latter, estimated at 400,000 by various sources, would represent, according to the platform's managers, 90% of subscribers who “could be recruited”.
No miracle despite numerous promotions
A number very far from the 1.5 million subscribers expected by December 2025 which, in all likelihood, will not be reached. This already recorded failure does not please DAZN who informed the LFP. The platform would like to renegotiate its contract downwards to limit the damage and save, what can still be, its investment on the French market last summer.
The league obviously does not want this and, therefore, is working again on the creation of its own channel (or platform) for next season. An endless circle.
