This Sunday, January 26, Olympique de Marseille and OGC Nice meet at the Allianz Riviera in a derby that smells of sulfur, and which will see two teams in Ligue 1 form competing in the race for the League of Champions. A few days before kick-off, the Nice supporters set the tone for a meeting which promises to be electric, on the pitch and in the stands.

All over the city, groups of Aiglon ultras have pasted life-size photos of former OM playmaker Dimitri Payet on trash cans and other selective sorting bins, with the figure in red and black. inscription “See you Sunday!” A more or less good-natured reaction, before a derby which has become a key moment of the year in Ligue 1 for several years. Indeed, in five trips to Nice since 2019, Marseille has only won once.
