Jorge Sampaoli drew up a very precise list of players he wanted for his winter transfer window. Among them, Valentin Rongier appeared on the Argentine technician's shelves. Rennes therefore attempted a transfer request from OM. Roberto De Zerbi's response was not long in coming: “They will have to find another player, because Rongier will not move”.

Under contract until June 2026, Valentin Rongier is a subject of the Marseille board. If the leaders wanted to wait for his return to competition, it is clear that the comeback of the former OM captain is a complete success. Returning through the back door, in a role of right piston, Rongier has today firmly returned to the middle of the field, becoming an executive of the RDZ system. OM will naturally send him an extension offer.
Two more years for Rongier?
At just 30 years old, Valentin Rongier is in his sixth season with OM. Without a doubt, he is one of the most consistent and prominent Marseille players in recent years. This contract extension seems more than deserved. It should allow him to further confirm his executive status in the locker room. And to add two more years to his Marseille adventure (June 2028).
