Expected in Paris on Friday to join PSG, Georgian winger Kvicha Kvaratskhelia said goodbye to Naples in a moving video in which he declared his love for the Italian club.
If Kvicha Kvaratskhelia intended to provoke a few tears among Naples supporters, it's mission accomplished. In recent years, some players have gotten into the habit of posting farewell messages at the time of the big departure. The Georgian international didn't do things by halves. Before going to Paris on Friday to engage with PSG, “Kvara” confirmed his departure from Napoli in a long video posted on his Instagram account. To melancholy music and slow-motion images at his home and at the Diego Maradona stadium, the 23-year-old Georgian proclaims his love for the club with which he was crowned Italian champion in 2023.

“It's hard for me but it's time to say goodbye. I lived an incredible time here, we shared a lot of memories together, experienced a lot of incredible emotions. Naples was my home, where I felt incredible thanks to each of you. The path we took together is still in my mind and it's very moving.”
“Probably the last day I set foot in this stadium as a Napoli player”
For a little over four minutes, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia rewinds his Neapolitan adventure, multiplies the tributes and thanks, forgets no one, and especially not the absolute idol, Diego Maradona (“He is alive in the heart of every Neapolitan and he will always be”). The winger also expresses his emotion by going one last time, in the rain, to the field of his exploits: “Today is probably the last day that I set foot in this stadium as a player of Naples, he continues. I really wanted to do it before leaving. This place, every memory of fans singing in the stands has already become a memory that I will cherish for many years to come.
The message could not be complete without a little word for Nitsa, his partner, and especially his baby, Damiane whom he brought to the stadium for the first time before leaving: “I want him to see this video when he is grown up in a few years and may he be proud of me,” slips the Georgian winger with his offspring in his arms in front of his jersey adorned with the number 77 stored in his locker room. Emotion guaranteed. Will Parisians have the right to such a tribute when Kvicha Kvaratskhelia leaves Paris? That would be a good sign…
