After Morocco, Mbaye Niang returns to Italy (official)

A few weeks after terminating his contract with Wydad Casablanca in Morocco, Senegalese international Mbaye Niang landed in Italy.

Officially free from any contract since January 1st, Mbaye Niang returns to familiar territory. The 30-year-old center forward signs his return in Italywhere he set sail almost four months ago, last September, to head towards Africa.

At the time, he left Empoli, after having been the hero who saved the club from relegation, with the winning goal scored in the 93rd minute, during the final day of Serie A (2-1) on 26 May 2024.

Ironically, this time, it is in the second division that the former Lions striker Senegal (15 caps, 4 goals, no longer called up since November 2019) will give his career an immediate continuation.

A first experience in Serie B

As revealed by journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the native of Meulan arrived this Wednesday in Genoa to sign until the end of the season with Sampdoria, currently 16th in the championship with only three points ahead of the last relegation, the Salernitana. His arrival has just been made official.

This will be the first time that the former great hope of French football will play in Serie B. He will especially experience his 16th club in his career after having traveled across the Boot, from AC Milan to Torino, via Genoa.

As a reminder, Niang remains on an anecdotal experience at Moroccowith 8 small appearances for 2 goals scored.
