It's likely only a matter of weeks before SBA's months-long threat to file for bankruptcy becomes effective. Before that, there was a phase of conciliation, demanded by all the elected representatives of the Metropolis, who also wanted it to result in something positive – namely aid to SBA from the metropolis – so that the mechanism does not collapse. This was not the opinion of
Christine Bost.
In fact, this conciliation did not result in anything positive. In La Tribune, we learn what the operator's requests were. This conciliation proposed that the Metropolis pay an additional 1.6 million euros per year to SBA which, in return, would have renounced any further profit. Currently, the Metropolis pays 7 million euros per year. Thus, with this additional sum, the amount would have increased to almost 9 million euros. To which Christine Bost specifies:
“And even soon to 11 million euros since SBA is now asking us to compensate for the loss of their naming contract. We do not know how far the SBA's requests will go and there is no question for me of imposing an additional cost on the Metropolis's finances. »
You have understood, we are therefore heading towards a scenario “à la Girondins de Bordeaux”, namely a recovery or a judicial liquidation in the spring of 2025. Whatever happens, the Metropolis stands ready, from less to take over the stadium under public management for maintenance.
