Antoine Kombouaré has held out in recent weeks after persistent rumors in Nantes, but another Ligue 1 manager is now in serious danger. According to information from L'Equipe, Luka Elsner, the coach of Stade de Reims, is threatened with dismissal after only six months at the head of the club.
Arriving last summer and under contract until 2026, the Franco-Slovenian is going through a difficult period, with mediocre results in Ligue 1. The heavy defeat against Nice (2-4) on Saturday accentuated the questions of the leaders, who are considering seriously replace it. The club is going through a negative series with only six points taken in the last ten matches, and an attack in great difficulty (nine goals scored, fifteen conceded).
Last chance for Elsner against Le Havre?
Elsner, after the defeat, took responsibility for the situation and expressed his willingness to challenge himself to help his players. However, the situation seems increasingly fragile. A crisis meeting is scheduled, and a short list of replacements is being prepared. Elsner's departure would nevertheless entail significant costs for the club, which would have to pay around 1 million euros to terminate his contract. The departure of Emmanuel Agbadou, key central defender, to Wolverhampton for 20 million euros did not make things easier, as did the poor form of certain major players. The match against Le Havre next Sunday, the last opponent to have been beaten by Reims, will be decisive. The red zone is getting closer and the Marne club is at a turning point in its season.
