Holder of a Master's degree in international law, I realized at the end of my university career that it was important to evolve in a field that you appreciate. Overnight, I decided to put an end to my parents' dream, who saw in me a future lawyer, to make a living from my passion: sport. Since then, I have covered transfer windows and sports news, trying to keep readers informed as best as possible.
Jean-Michel Larqué has a green heart, that of ASSE. But the midfielder is not the man for just one club. Between 1977 and 1980, he defended the colors of PSG, first as coach, then as player-coach and finally as general manager. A passage he wishes to forget.
His voice is recognizable to everyone. Jean-Michel Larqué, alongside Thierry Roland, managed to enter the hearts of the French by commenting on the greatest exploits of thethe French team. He tried to impose his voice on PSG between 1977 and 1980. In difficulty at ASSE, Larqué had accepted the offer to coach the young Parisian club. “ I felt like I had served my time. And I was full of illusions about myself. A physical education teacher by training and a recognized footballer, I was certain of becoming a great coach. I thought I was made for this job » indicated Jean-Mi.
“I took the wrong path”
But at PSG, Larqué quickly became disillusioned. “Quickly, I understood that I had taken the wrong path,” continues Larqué. I lacked almost everything: patience, tolerance and self-control. With all this, I took no pleasure in what I was doing. In fact, I was happy in training, I got along well with the players but I lacked maturity » he blurted. So the midfielder returned to action on the field before being offered the role of general manager.
A scandal broke out during his visit
But at Paris, the climate was far from ideal with the famous double ticketing affair (this affair led to the departure of Daniel Hechter Editor's note). “ For a few weeks, we found ourselves abandoned. We hadn't done anything and people thought we were thieves. There were settling of scores. The Paris town hall got involved. A beautiful mess. I spent a third year as general manager of PSG. But if I had to summarize my time here, I would say that it was a hassle which nevertheless facilitated my reconversion. I was not made to lead but to comment” declared Larqué au Parisian.
