As we indicated last week, the interview prior to dismissal between Oswald Tanchot and the management of GF38 took place before the Grenoblois moved to Caen, where Frédéric Guéguen took over the interim role, with success. The arrival of a new coach should accelerate.
It should only be a matter of days from now on. Step 1 for the arrival of a new coach on the GF38 bench was completed with the interview prior to the dismissal of Oswald Tanchot. If there are still a few regulatory procedures to go through, Grenoble will be able to officially move forward.
A sequel already unofficially considered in recent weeks, with several options on the table. Despite convincing results and a satisfactory state of mind, that leading to the maintenance of Frédéric Guéguen as number 1 remains very unlikely. Grenoble would have to pay a fine of €12,500 per match (a priori not before the Metz match since a club has a period of 30 days following the first match without the sacked coach), for example €50,000 in February, €37,500 in March etc. since the technician does not have the diploma required to officiate in Ligue 2.
Option No. 2 would be to hire a coach to finish the season, level off as quickly as possible and take more time to think about what’s next. One name stands out very strongly: that of Philippe Hinschberger, candidate with the ideal profile that we revealed to you on December 19. No adaptation time and perfect knowledge of the context would provide certainty more quickly than a new head.
-Option No. 3 is gaining strength with the convincing results of 2025 which offers the Isère club a big margin over the relegation zone. It would consist of taking on a “builder” coach this winter, there for the long term (remembering that OT had also arrived with this in mind). Here too, names, usual in Grenoble short lists, emerge (Réginald Ray, Philippe Montanier, also mentioned at JS Kabylie) but a surprise out of the hat as was the case for Hognon and Jacobacci cannot be ruled out.
We should be settled quickly.
