If ASSE supporters are not among the top of the Ligue 1 ranking, they can nevertheless boast of having won another ranking, recently revealed by the LFP.
Greens supporters were able to smile again after their team’s victory against Reims (3-1) last weekend. But this is not the only satisfaction for them: they have just been distinguished in a list where they finally shine in a positive way. Regularly singled out for the massive use of smoke bombs – which has currently earned them the suspension of both kops – or for certain excesses, they are this time rewarded with a very first place in a ranking that is, to say the least, original.
ASSE supporters at the top!
We perhaps didn’t expect them to be in the lead, especially since they are often criticized, notably by the Rouge Direct collective for certain songs deemed homophobic. And yet, it is thanks to one of their songs that the Saint-Etienne supporters are today at the top of the ranking… for the best supporter song in Ligue 1!
-Yesterday, the LFP unveiled its list of the most notable supporter songs of the championship. And at the top, we find ASSE, ahead of PSG, Lyon, Marseille and Nantes.
On the Saint-Etienne side, it is the famous « Popolo polo popo po » which was unanimous. This song, launched by one of the kops and taken up by the one opposite, resonates within the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium, creating an echo effect between the South Kop animated by the Green Angels and the North Kop invested by my Magic Fans. A sound show which regularly takes over the entire Chaudron and which, visibly, won over Ligue 1 observers and more than 45,000 voters who gave their opinion. Further proof, if any were needed, that ASSE supporters remain among the best in the country.
